SAMUEL ALLEN... son of Edward born in Deerfield, Mass., 6 April 1702, married 3 November 1727, Hannah, daughter of Deacon Eleazer Hawks, who was with Captain Turner at Peskeomskut. She died 8 March 1771, aged 67.
Samuel Allen was in the King's service in 1725 under the command of Capt Joseph Kellogg was wounded in Father 'war and was killed during the old French war while resisting an Indian attack at the Bars Deerfield, 25 August 1746.[1]
Samuel Allen, son of Edward and Mercy (Painter) Allen, was born in 1702. He lived in the house at the Bars (Deerfield) which George Fuller later used as his studio. In 1727, he married Hannah, daughter of Eleazer Hawks [born 1655]. The couple had 12 children, several of whom are mentioned below. Samuel was killed by Indians in 1746 (the Bars Fight); his widow died in 1771. His papers consist of plats of two lots, one east of the Green River, surveyed in 1736, and the other in the Second Division, Deerfield, undated; and by a list and evaluation of the extensive land holdings included in his estate (c. 1746). His sister, Sarah, was captured by the indians and taken to Canada where she remained and married a Frenchman.

His gravestone in the old burying ground bears the following epitaph:
'Listen to me ye mortal men Bewar
That you engage no more in direful
War. By meanse of War my Soul from
Earth is fled, my Body Lodged in
Mansions of the dead'
He m. Nov. 3, 1727 Hannah, dau of Eleazer Hawks; she d. Mar. 8, 1771, age 67."
Samuel was born in 1702. He passed away in 1746.
